Mediaakurat.org, Bihar,- A one-day workshop titled “Natural Disasters Caused by Climate Change in South Asia and Collective Remedies” was held on 4 May 2026 in Bihar, India.
The event, organized by the Satyagraha Research Foundation and Mother Tahira Charitable Trust with WPO South Asia and various social organizations, paid tribute to victims of natural disasters in the state.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Ajaz Ahmad (Advocate), International Peace Ambassador and Secretary General of the Satyagraha Research Foundation, joined other experts in urging governments to establish underground disaster clinics with a capacity of 10,000 people in every district across South Asia, particularly India, to effectively respond to natural calamities.
Other participants included Dr. Amanul Haque, Senior Journalist and Co-founder of Mother Tahira Charitable Trust, Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Dr. Shahnawaz Ali, Dr. Amit Kumar Lohia, Social Activist Navindu Chaturvedi, and Shaheen Parveen, Coordinator of the West Champaran Art Forum.
The workshop discussed environmental conservation and disaster management. Experts highlighted that human activities are making climate change a primary catalyst for disasters such as floods, droughts, and cyclones. These should no longer be viewed as merely “natural” phenomena but as human-induced disasters.
Deliberations focused on mitigation and adaptation strategies, with special emphasis on sustainable solutions through tree plantation, forest conservation, wetland management, water harvesting, and the participation and awareness of local communities.
WPO South Asia supports community-driven disaster resilience as a key component of human security and sustainable peace.Moh, Rudolf
